Natural Cold-Flu Remedies

health and fitness degree programs

Natural remedies for cold flu can help make your cold less severe. Keep your water intake high and avoid drinking fruit juices. Green tea may also reduce the length of a common cold. Camellia Sinensis, a Camellia Sinensis-derived plant, is found to improve immunity and reduce symptoms of colds. To see how green tea works, try drinking it with honey. Also, you can try elderberry, Shiitake mushrooms and Apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar, while not an official treatment for colds, can help boost immunity and prevent future outbreaks. It has antibacterial properties that can loosen the mucus. This is a great relief for people with persistent coughs. Although the claims are supported by more research, it is important to consult a doctor before making any drastic changes to your diet. Despite being reluctant to drink apple cider vinegar, it is an excellent alternative to other drugs.

Honey

Honey is not a new idea. Humans have used honey for medicinal purposes for thousands upon thousands of years. The Qur'an and the Bible both mention honey's medicinal benefits. Hippocrates who was a Greek physician and father to early medicine, wrote of its healing powers. Oxford University researchers examined the results from 14 studies. Nineteen of the 14 studies examined honey and compared it with other conventional treatments.

Shiitake mushrooms

Shiitake mushrooms have many health benefits. They contain triterpenes as well as polysaccharides. These compounds activate T cells, macrophages and NK cells. They contain high levels of triterpenes and polysaccharides. They are thought have immunomodulatory qualities and contain all eight of the essential amino acids.

Elderberry

Although it is not known if it can be used as a natural flu or cold remedy, one study has shown that it may decrease the illness' duration by four days. This was found to be true in a 2004 study of 60 adults. A study of air travelers showed that elderberry syrup reduced illness duration by four days. Although it is not clear if elderberry syrup can be used orally as an antiviral remedy, it can be taken during sickness.

Ginger

A natural cure for a cold and flu is ginger. This may reduce the time that a cold or flu can last. Ginger is both an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. It helps to fight infection and releases toxins. It also contains vitamin C, which helps your immune system function optimally. You can ease your sore throat by adding ginger to a cup warm water.

FAQ

Is cold a sign of a weak immune response?

It's been said that there are two kinds of people in the world; those who love winter and those who hate it. You may wonder why you feel so bad when it's cold, regardless of whether you love it or hate it.

The truth is that our bodies are built to work best when it's warm. Because of this, our bodies evolved to thrive and survive in hot climates.

However, our environment is quite different than that of our ancestors. We spend a lot more time indoors, and are often exposed at extreme temperatures (cold and hot), and we eat processed foods over fresh.

Because of this, our bodies have become accustomed to extremes. This means that we feel tired, sluggish and even sick when we venture outside.

There are many ways to avoid these side effects. One way is to make sure that you stay well-hydrated throughout the day. Water is essential for your body to function properly and eliminate toxins.

Another important step is to ensure that you're eating healthy meals. Your body will stay at its best when you eat healthy foods. This is especially true for people who spend long hours indoors.

Finally, consider taking a few minutes each morning to meditate. Meditation helps to calm your mind and body which can make it easier to deal stress and illness.

Diet Types

A low-fat diet reduces the amount of fats you eat. This is achieved by reducing saturated fats like butter, cream cheese, and other dairy products. and replacing them with unsaturated fats (olive oil, avocados, etc.). If you want to lose weight fast and easily, then a low fat diet is often recommended. This diet can cause problems such constipation as heartburn, indigestion, and even stomach pain. A person may also experience vitamin deficiencies if they don't get enough vitamins.

High Protein Diets

High-protein diets limit carbohydrates and favor proteins. These diets are more protein-rich than others. These diets are designed to build muscle mass and help you burn more calories. However, they might not provide enough nutrition for those who need to eat frequently. They are not suitable for all people because they can be restrictive.

Ketogenic Diets

Ketogenic diets can also be known as keto diets. They are high in fat, moderately high in protein and low in carbohydrates. How To

What does the word "vitamin" mean?

Vitamins are organic substances found naturally in food. Vitamins are necessary for us to absorb nutrients in the foods we consume. The body cannot make vitamins; therefore, they must be obtained from food.

There are two types of vitamins: water soluble and fat soluble. Water-soluble vitamins dissolve readily in water. Examples include vitamin C,B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B6 (pyridoxine), folic acid, biotin, pantothenic acid, and choline. The liver and fatty tissues are home to fat-soluble vitamins. You can find vitamin D, E K, A, beta carotene, and other fat-soluble vitamins.

Vitamins can be classified by their biological activity. There are eight major categories of vitamins.

  • A – Essential for normal growth, and the maintenance of good health.
  • C – essential for proper nerve function.
  • D - Essential for healthy teeth and bones.
  • E is needed for good reproduction and vision.
  • K - essential for healthy muscles, nerves, and bones.
  • P - vital for building strong bones andteeth.
  • Q - Aids digestion and iron absorption
  • R is required for the production of red blood cells.

The recommended daily intake (RDA), of vitamins varies with age, gender and physical condition. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration sets RDA values.

For example, the RDA for vitamin A is 400 micrograms per dayfor adults 19 years or older. Because it is essential for the development of the fetus, pregnant women should consume 600 micrograms per daily. Children ages 1-8 require 900 micrograms per day. Infants below one year old require 700mg per day. But, between 9 months to 12 months, the amount drops to 500mg per day.

Children aged between 1-18 years require 800 micrograms of sugar per day, while overweight children need 1000 micrograms. Children who are underweight receive 1200 micrograms every day to meet their nutritional requirements.

2200 mg of vitamin A per day is required for children aged 4-8 who have been diagnosed by anemia.

2000 micrograms daily is required for adults over 50 to maintain their general health. Mothers who are pregnant, nursing, or have a high nutrient need will require 3000 micrograms a day.

Adults over 70 need 1500 micrograms daily, as they lose 10% of their muscle every ten years.

Women who are pregnant and lactating need more nutrients than the RDA. Pregnant women need 4000 micrograms per dayduring pregnancy and 2500 micrograms per day after delivery. Breastfeeding mothers need 5000 mg per day when breastmilk is being produced.
